Why are our environment and our energy needs so important to us that we are dealing with them so intensively?
Because there is no alternative!
As a family business rooted in the region for three generations, we are aware of our social responsibility. We therefore operate an environmental management system to minimize our environmental impact. Alongside environmental concerns, energy and energy efficiency are also firmly embedded in our DNA. We want to do our part to minimize CO2 emissions and have therefore been operating an energy management system alongside our environmental management for about a decade, within which we continuously track improvements in energy efficiency and our CO2 footprint.
What does that mean in concrete terms?
We never tire of seeking and finding ways to optimize our energy supply, have set ourselves concrete goals for self-sufficiency, and want to significantly reduce our needs despite growth:
We have been able to reduce the amount of energy required per kilogram of material processed by 20% since 2019.
We have consistently expanded our on-site energy generation: With our 950 kWp photovoltaic system on our roof, we generate a significant portion of our required energy ourselves. The system is equivalent to 80 private systems*. This protects the grid and the climate!
To this end, we have installed a hydrogen-capable combined heat and power plant with a capacity of 1,200 kW, despite all the regulations. This plant supplies us with baseload energy, and we feed its waste heat into the local district heating network. This output is equivalent to approximately 100 heat pumps.
